Caught this little wolf spider on the side of the road out to Theresa Creek Dam. According to all my searching on Google, she's a Lycosid of some kind, but as the large majority of Australia's spiders haven't yet been properly categorised/described, there isn't actually a specific name for this species yet. Quite interesting for an Australian wolf spider, she was in a burrow with a well fitting and well camouflaged trapdoor.
Anyway, this is one of the best shots I got of her. She was on a light covering of leaf litter on the side of a plastic container which was tilted up in such a way that she couldn't climb out (she has no grip at all on the smooth plastic walls, so this keeps her contained), with an off camera flash above her, and my EF 24-105mm 1:4L lens mounted reversed on a custom adaptor.
Turned out quite well I think.
Body Canon EOS-60D
Lens Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM (manual focus and no IS, because I had it mounted reversed)
